Watch your pupils become scientists for the day with a L'Oreal Young Scientist Centre workshop. Available for key stages 2-5, students have the opportunity to test their own ideas by designing creative experiments. LYSC experiences encourage curiosity-driven learning with access to professional laboratory equipment and advanced technology. Explore colour chemistry, extract your own DNA, step into the role of a clinical bacteriologist and much more.

Hyde Park Learning Centre

Hyde Park Learning Centre is a unique, eco-friendly building nestled in an acre of enclosed grounds in the heart of the park.

Learning experiences led by their in-house expert team and trusted partners are available to pre-book. Pupils will get to explore the park and learn all about the vital urban green spaces The Royal Parks look after. Subjects covered include biology, ecology, geography, history and art. Some sessions offer cross-curricular learning.

 

Wembley Stadium

Visit this striking stadium to gain an invaluable insight into modern engineering. Worksheets are available to accompany your visit on Science, Maths & Statistics and Design & Engineering.

London Zoo

Spend time with over 750 species on a London Zoo school trip. Immerse students in the sights, sounds and experiences of life in the animal kingdom.

Centre of the Cell

Placing science in context, this is the first science education centre in the world to be located within medical laboratories. Sudents will experience unique science shows, digital interactive games, human specimens and interactive microscopes. All groups are joined by a STEM ambassador who studetns can question about the life of a scientist and their own career choices.

We can also book you a fun-filled and curriculum linked Science Show or Workshop. The content relates to cells and the human body, and all of the Shows and Workshops have specific curriculum links.

Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons

The Hunterian Museum includes the display of over 2,000 anatomical preparations from surgeon and anatomist John Hunter’s original collection, alongside instruments, equipment, models, paintings and archive material which trace the history of surgery from ancient times to the latest robot-assisted operations. The Museum includes England’s largest public display of human anatomy.

Run by Dr Matt Pritchard, who works for organisations like Royal Institution, British Science Association and The Big Bang fairs, these interactive science and maths magic shows will inspire and inform students.

Can you discover the sneaky scientific secrets behind the illusions? The show will challenge you to think creatively like a scientist and a magician. The interactive show encourages enquiry, using magic tricks to inspire students’ imaginative engagement with scientific ideas and technological developments.

Science & Maths Magic Shows - Superhero Science

Are superpowers fact, fiction or feasible in the future? Explore x-ray vision, super strength, invisibility, levitation, telekinesis and mind-reading and find out what they do (or don’t) have to do with real science like forces and motion, light and radiation, waves, electricity, psychology and neuroscience.

Science & Maths Magic Shows - Something About Nothing

Run by Dr Matt Pritchard, who works for organisations like Royal Institution, British Science Association and The Big Bang fairs, these interactive science and maths magic shows will inspire and inform students.

Nothing is notoriously hard to grasp. However, this show will attempt to fill in the empty gaps and explain almost everything there is to know about nothing. A comedy show uniquely fusing magic, multimedia and mathematics that explores the history, maths, science and philosophy behind nothing.

The Wellcome Collection

The Wellcome Collection explores the connections between medicine, life and art in the past, present and future.

The venue provides an insight to anyone seeking to understand biology, medicine and the role of medicine in society – past and present. Free guided tours of exhibitions are available for pre-booked groups.

 

Thames River Cruise

Take in London’s best-loved sights on this enjoyable cruise. Your students will gain an insight into the many layers of history that have built up along the river, from the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge to the 'lastminute.com' London Eye.

Since 2000, this world-famous structure has taken over 75 million people on a journey into London’s skyline. Be inspired with our Skyline Workshops. At an additional cost, these enhanced in-pod experiences are delivered by our education hosts and include interactive activities and interesting facts on London's iconic skyline.

Developed in collaboration with education specialists, teachers can book either a KS2/KS3 version.

The Legacy of London 2012 – Guided Olympic Site Tour

HALF & FULL DAY OPTION AVAILABLE

Come and witness the legacy of London 2012 and see the Olympic Park area following the exciting urban regeneration programme which transformed the face of East London. Your Blue Badge Guide can take you even closer to the venues, driving right next to the Velodrome, the BMX track, and the Olympic and the Paralympic Villages. The coach will travel around the edge of the Olympic Park before making a stop at the Olympic Stadium, the Aquatics Centre and the Orbit. The tour also affords fantastic views of the International Broadcast Centre and the Copper Box venue. Weather permitting, there are opportunities to get off the coach and explore.

You’ll then head to the Royal Docks to view ExCel, which hosted seven Olympic sports and five Paralympic sports. Then to Woolwich to see the magnificent facade of the Royal Artillery Barracks, the venue for shooting and for the Paralympic archery. The tour ends at Greenwich with a walk in the Park where the Equestrian events and the Modern Pentathlon had such a spectacular setting.

Step on to authentic sets, discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter film series. Tread the original stone floor of the iconic Hogwarts Great Hall, encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley. Your Harry Potter World school trip is located at the Studios where all 8 films were produced.

45 minute workshops are also available, covering Art and Design, Business Studies, English and Drama, Film and Media and STEM subjects, as well as Primary.

Sphere Science – Buggies Workshop

In this 90 minute interactive workshop, students will each build and test a buggy powered by a balloon. They will work out all the independent variables and choose one to investigate its effect on a dependant variable.

Science Gallery

The Science Gallery is part of a mission by King’s College London to connect art, science and health to drive innovation and creative thinking in the heart of the city. The free-to-visit space is at London Bridge, and three seasons will each focus on a theme through exhibitions, events, performances, live experiments, open discussions and festivals. All will have scientific engagement at their core and the programming draws on and reflects a broad range of expertise in health and wellbeing.

The Silverstone Experience

State of the art interactive displays, compelling stories, iconic cars and motorcycles – let the Silverstone Experience take you on a journey through the past, present and future of Silverstone and British motor racing! Workshops are also available at the Silverstone Experience and are designed to provide curriculum-related, hands-on opportunities for students to extend their learning in STEM subjects. Workshops are led by trained facilitators and are based in one of the Learning Studios overlooking the famous Silverstone Circuit. Also, at the end of your visit, experience the thrill of speeding around Silverstone alongside your racing heroes in a dramatic, immersive show ‘The ultimate lap of Silverstone’ with commentary by Murray Walker.

Kew Gardens - 90 minute workshop

Discover the world of wonder behind the botanical collections at Kew, with over 50,000 living plants to be found across the UNESCO World Heritage site. Groups can take part in a hands on, 90 min workshop which links directly to the curriculum. Workshops are available from KS3-KS5 and include topics such as: ecosystems: deserts and rainforests, evolution and adaptation, natural resources, nutrient cycles and decomposition.

CSI Workshop

Participants will learn to use the best forensic science equipment and latest techniques to unravel truly thrilling stories as they explore complex, realistic and detailed scenarios from Thinkers in Education.  

They will need to process evidence, from blood typing through to DNA fingerprinting, like professional forensic scientists.  Then students need to employ critical thinking skills, to think like detectives, as they attempt to solve intriguing mysteries that rival anything they may have seen on television.

Every workshop is delivered as a competition, in which teams compete against one another to use the technology, their skills and problem solving techniques to successfully reach a conclusion that fits with the evidence.  Will the truth be uncovered?
