All of our school tours have been designed to support the National Curriculum and make invaluable contributions to your child’s education. We have also been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Council’s Quality Badge in recognition of our high quality teaching and learning experiences.

Safe in our hands

NST’s excellent reputation is founded on an outstanding health and safety record based on our 55+ years of operating school tours. As a fully assured member of the School Travel Forum, we adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and safety management standards, which are externally verified annually by health and safety professionals.

Your money is protected

Your money is protected from the moment your child’s tour is booked, thanks to our ABTA and ATOL bond. This means that your money is safe, and your payments are insured.

Accommodation on our school trips

During their tour, your child will stay in safe, secure, and school-friendly accommodation. All accommodation is carefully selected by us and is subject to our regular, and stringent, audit checks to ensure the highest levels of safety and suitability.

Coach transport

Safety is our first priority, which is why we promise that your child’s coach operator will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • All British coaches are fitted with seatbelts

  • All British coaches conform to government safety standards

  • All British coach operators conform to European Laws and regulations (driver hours and tachograph records)

  • All British coach operators have systems to ensure drivers are DBS checked

Visits and excursions

During their school trip, your child will take part in excursions and visits to enhance their learning experience and enjoyment.

To ensure the highest level of quality and safety, all NST arranged visits and excursions are risk evaluated and regularly reviewed.

Passport, visas & health documents

Passports

Please check your child’s passport validity as soon as possible.

British passport holders should have at least 6 months validity remaining on their passports from the date of travel, and be less than 10 years old (except for travel to Ireland). If a traveller renewed a 10-year adult passport before expiry, extra months may have been added to the passport expiry date – these extra months do not count.

In addition to their passport, travellers may also be asked to show a return or onward ticket, and that they have sufficient money for their stay.

We recommend that non-British passport holders have a minimum of 6 months remaining on their passport when they re-enter the UK.

Visas

Full details of visa and entry requirements for all countries can be found on the government foreign travel advice website. Non-British nationals/passport holders may require visas, and it is the responsibility of the individual to check all passport and visa requirements with the relevant country’s embassy.

Health

The Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) offers protection for emergency and medically necessary healthcare needs when in the EU on a temporary stay. Applying for a GHIC is free via the official GHIC website. Current European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) will continue to be valid for travel in the EU.
