Manoir d’Apreval offers an authentic, hands-on experience of traditional cider-making. Your French-speaking guide will lead your group through the cider mill and orchard, teaching students about the local apple varieties and the centuries-old traditions that go into crafting the perfect cider. The tour ends with a delightful tasting session, where students can sample a variety of ciders and freshly pressed apple juice.

Mémorial de Caen offers an in-depth journey into the heart of 20th-century history, covering events from World War II, the Cold War, and the challenges faced by the world today. Students can explore interactive exhibits and immerse themselves in the dramatic history of Normandy during the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy. A highlight of the visit is the 30-minute film that vividly recounts these historic events, offering students a powerful visual experience.

This quaint medieval market town is famous as the home of the Bayeux Tapestry (closed for refurbishment Aug 2025 – Oct 2027), which tells the epic story of the Norman conquest of England. Visitors can also admire the town’s magnificent Gothic cathedral, a stunning example of medieval architecture. Bayeux is also dotted with charming shops and traditional cafés, giving students plenty of opportunities to practise their French.

Explore the streets and harbour of the typically French port town, Honfleur. Having avoided destruction during WWII, it still proudly retains its authentic Norman charm, with half-timbered houses, narrow alleyways, and a vibrant marina. The town’s artistic heritage is also noteworthy, having inspired famous painters such as Claude Monet and the Impressionists.

Gain an insight into WWII at this historic seaside resort closely linked to the Allied Landings. Key visits during Normandy French language school trips include the Invasion Museum, which showcases the construction and significance of the Mulberry Harbour, and the impressive 360° cinema, where students can experience powerful wartime footage.

This charming fishing port gives students an opportunity to explore a typical French town. Rich in maritime heritage, watch fishermen at work and see the daily catch being brought in for a real glimpse into coastal life in Normandy. With its quaint streets, fresh seafood stalls, and friendly locals, Port-en-Bessin provides an authentic setting for students to practise their language skills.

A very popular visit, the Biscuiterie gives students the chance to learn about traditional Normandy baking techniques and even get hands-on experience making local specialities such as buttery biscuits and pastries.

This colourful aquarium presents eight themed exhibition rooms from cold abyssal waters to warm tropical waters, where students can discover around 10,000 fishes or more than 600 species. There’s also a touch pool and a new exhibition each year. 

Rouen, the historic capital of Upper Normandy, is where the Catholic saint, Joan of Arc, was famously tried and burned at the stake in 1431. Ideal for Normandy French language school trips, Rouen gives students the chance to explore key historical sites while practising their French speaking and listening skills.

Set in Normandy on the site of France’s oldest Calvados Maison, the Calvados Experience is a visitor attraction that immerses the audience in a multi-sensory journey through the centuries, from Vikings to present day, in an informative presentation about the history of Calvados, and how it is produced. This unique experience culminates in an apple juice tasting.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Mont Saint-Michel provides students on French language trips to Normandy with a unique opportunity to step back in time and explore a place unlike any other. The towering abbey offers stunning views of the surrounding bay and an insight into the fascinating history of this medieval fortress. Students can also explore a variety of museums, quaint shops, cafés, and local artisan boutiques situated along its narrow, winding streets.
