Experience a day in the life of a Spanish pupil

Visiting Cantabria, Andalucía or Madrid? Then what better way to engage your students in language and culture than to spend time in a Spanish school and take part in a typical lesson. These visits are completely immersive and budget-friendly too.

This is a visit that gives pupils the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a Spanish student. You could choose to spend a few hours at the local school, half a day or even a full day.

Your pupils will be shown around the school and given a brief introduction to the Spanish education system, before being introduced to their class. They will then take part in a typical Spanish lesson – this could be in Maths, History, Spanish or English Language, etc. Pupils will also have the opportunity to take lunch with their class, and may even get the chance to cook their food in a paella making workshop.

Pupils are encouraged to interact with their Spanish classmates, and even help them with their English. This really is an opportunity for groups to forge friendships and make connections that could last a lifetime.

This type of visit fits perfectly with the new focus of the Spanish language curriculum:

•    A stronger emphasis on Spanish culture and identity
•    More emphasis on independence and interaction in all skills – speaking, listening and writing
•    Stronger communication based on a deeper understanding of how language works
•    Applying languages in personal, academic and employment-related contexts
•    A greater focus on spontaneous talk and the inclusion of repair strategies as a skill
•    Wider and richer sources for listening and reading, including literary texts to inform, inspire and as a stimulus for a personal response
