Day 1 Travel

Flight to Keflavik. On arrival meet your guide and transfer to the Blue Lagoon to relax and enjoy the geothermal waters. Transfer to your hotel in time for check-in and your evening meal (first meal included). Overnight: Hveragerdi/Selfoss.

Day 2 The South Shore Adventure

The day starts with a drive to Skógafoss waterfall. Continue with a short visit to Skógar, home to one of Iceland’s bestknown Folk Museums, en route to the cliffs of Reynishverfi and Dyrolaey. A chance to walk on Sólheimajökull, a glacier tongue that lies south of the Myrdalsjökull Glacier, before returning to your hotel. Overnight: Hveragerdi/Selfoss.

Day 3 Þórsmörk

A full day tour to Þórsmörk, one of the most favoured outdoor sites of the Icelanders, and one of the top natural preserves in Iceland. The lovely but rugged nature of this valley of Thor offers a unique composition of glaciers and rocks against wood and wild rivers. Explore the area in purpose built off-road buses, built to cross rivers. Visits include Gigujokull to view the outlet glacier calving into a proglacial lake, the spectacular waterfall Seljalandsfoss and the rift canyon at Stakkholtsgja. Lunch is taken in one of the wooden cabins in the area. Overnight: Hveragerdi/ Selfoss

Day 4 The Golden Circle

Morning visit in Hveragerdi to observe geothermal energy used in huge heated greenhouses to grow plants, vegetables and flowers. Travel onwards to Kerið, a lake filled extinct volcanic crater, to study volcanic landforms. The next stop is at the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe, where students can observe the water cycle and changes in sea level. The to the famous Great Geysir that has given its name to hot springs all over the world. You will see one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouting up to 20 metres about every 10 to 20 mins. Travel onwards to Þingvellir national park. A beautiful canyon running through the park forms the meeting point of two of the earth’s tectonic plates and a unique opportunity to witness the mid Atlantic ridge. Continue to Reykjavik and check in to your accommodation. Overnight: Reykjavík

Day 5 Reykjavik & Return Travel

After breakfast (last meal included), check-out of your hotel. Depending on flight times, morning at leisure exploring Reykjavik centre and the harbour area OR transfer to Oskjuhlid to visit the Perlan Centre. There are small geysers within the grounds, and one that can actually be seen within the complex. Lunch can be taken in the revolving restaurant that sits on top of the four gigantic tanks that hold the city’s hot water after it is pumped from geothermal wells outside of town. Coach transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
