The Recruitment Process
Submitting your application
If you are applying for one of our vacant roles online, we will send you an acknowledgement by email to confirm we have received your details and give you an idea of when to expect further news.
You can also apply by post. All postal applications should be submitted to:
NST Travel Group
Whitehills Business Park
Your application will be assessed by the recruiting manager and a member of the HR Team and, within two weeks, we will contact you to let you know the outcome and next steps.
Initial introductions – the telephone interview
Following your application, we’ll usually call you to organise a telephone interview. The telephone interview is the first stage of our formal interview process, and will allow us to find out a bit more about you, your CV and your background, as well as giving you the opportunity to learn more about us and the role you have applied for. At the end of the telephone interview, we will let you know when you will hear from us with an outcome and what the next steps will be in the recruitment process.
Handy tips for the telephone interview – “If you are contacted for a telephone interview, treat it as you would a face-to-face meeting – spend a bit of time researching a little about NST so that you can be prepared for any questions around how your skills and capabilities match what we are looking for…” – Michelle White, HR Co-ordinator, NST
Finding out more – face-to-face interviews
If you’re successful at the telephone interview stage, you’ll be invited for a face-to-face interview.
Our face-to-face interview stage is very much around giving you the opportunity to really showcase your talents in relation to the position you have applied for. Therefore, as well as a formal competency-based interview based on our core values and competencies, we will also use a range of assessment methods relevant to the position you have applied for, e.g. role plays for customer facing positions, IT technical tests, presentations, ability/personality tests, etc.
Prior to the face-to-face interview, you will be provided with any literature or information you will need to prepare for any selection exercises you may be asked to complete at this stage.
Handy tips for the Face to Face Interview – “Our face-to-face interview stage is very much a two-way process, so as well as answering questions about you, come prepared with questions you want to ask us! We try to include ‘Time with Team’ as part of the face-to-face interview stage, which is a great way for candidates to ask questions and get a good feel of the job from the people that do it, and we encourage all candidates to make the most of this opportunity!” – Jo Sysum, HR Manager
Joining our school travel team
If you are successful at the face-to-face interview stage, we will contact you to make a verbal offer of employment. All of our job offers are subject to satisfactory references and depending on the nature of your role; you may need to undertake a CRB check too. If this is the case you will have been advised of this during the interview process.
When you join, you will be provided with a tailored induction programme which will help you get to know all about working life at NST, and equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel in your role and your future career with us. We will provide you with more information on the company, our values, our vision, what we see for our future… and how you will be an important part of it!
A friendly note to recruitment agencies
