Key Visits
Around the Old Town Square
Rynek Głowny (Town Square) - the largest in medieval Europe, Mariacki Church (St Mary’s Church) of Gothic origins with a fi ne altar, Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) of vast proportions.
The Old Town
View particularly the University District and the Collegium aius - the historic heart of the university area.
Kazimierz
A tour of the former Jewish district of the city visiting synagogues, museums and the old cemetery.
Podgorze (The Wartime Ghetto)
In March 1941, the entire Jewish population of the city were crammed into this tiny ghetto, featured in the movie Schindler’s List.
The Schindler Museum
The long awaited museum in the former factory of Oscar Schindler has finally opened and has proved well worth the wait! It tells Schindler’s story brilliantly and covers every aspect of the Polish and Polish–Jewish experience of occupation in a way that is hugely relevant to British students. We thoroughly recommend this excellent visit.
Auschwitz-Birkenau
Following the Nazi invasion of Poland in September 1939, Oświęcim and its surrounding region were incorporated into the domains of the Third Reich. The town’s name was changed to Auschwitz and it became home to the largest concentration and death camp. Today as a museum, Auschwitz serves as a poignant reminder of the horrors of World War II.
Living History
Galicia Museum
Presenting Jewish history from a new perspective, this private museum celebrates the Jewish culture of Galicia and poignantly commemorates the victims of the Holocaust through its moving photographic exhibition. Groups can take part in exhibition tours, lectures, concerts, workshops and much more.
Meet with a Holocaust Survivor or a Member of the Righteous Among the Nations – Groups have the invaluable opportunity to meet and speak with Holocaust survivors or with recipients of the Righteous Among the Nations award. This is an incredible, poignant chance to hear moving eye-witness testimony and gain first-hand insight into life under Nazi rule. Common themes covered often include conflict, prejudice and the values of tolerance and understanding.
Many groups combine a Holocaust History visit to Krakow with Warsaw and Łódz.

NST Guide Lecturers
An increasing number of schools book a Guided Study Tour each year due to the recommendation of NST’s customers. Why not add an NST Guide Lecturer to your tour package.
Your Guide Lecturer will:
- Be selected from a specialist team to meet your exact visit requirements
- Be a highly experienced and knowledgeable educationalist
- Have a long and proven track record of delivering excellent results
- Have an understanding of the needs of students and information delivery
- Understand the pressures and requirements of Group Leaders
Benefits of NST Guide Lecturers:
- A Strong Teaching Background - All of our guides are ex-teachers with specific History expertise. Their educational background and detailed knowledge of the current curriculum will help them meet your specific needs. As former teachers they also understand the demands and requirements of organising educational visits.
- Helping You to Prepare Your Ideal Itinerary - Our guides will contact you before your tour to discuss your learning objectives. They will then advise on the appropriate visits to build an itinerary that matches your specified objectives and enables your group to get the most out of every day.
- More Time for One-to-One Teaching - With an NST Guide Lecturer leading the group, you gain the opportunity to provide individual tuition and enjoy the visits with your students.
- First Evening Talk - Your Guide Lecturer will provide an informal discussion on your first evening, setting the scene for the next few days. Helping students focus on the days to come and covering many general questions up front, this talk will allow more time for specific questions at each site.
Our team of experienced Guide Lecturers include:
- Garry Clarkson - Previously Head of Humanities, Garry has over 10 years’ experience in teaching about the Holocaust and has taken part in a teacher training seminar at Yad Vashem during 2006.
