5 day Morocoo package includes

Day One - Arrive in Morocco

Daytime: Flight and transfer to accommodation with guide and exploration of local area

Evening: Free time to settle in, evening meal

Day Three - High Atlas Mountains Discovery Day

Your transport will take you to the High Atlas village of Imlil. Stops can be made en route to view some of the hot desert environmental issues which affect a rapidly developing city in Morocco, such as ecosystems, plant and animal adaptations, development opportunities and challenges, tourism and water management.

Day Four - Imlil Fieldwork Day

There are a range of fieldwork opportunities in Imlil, including flooding and hazards in a mountain environment, river morphology, tourism and eco-tourism, cold environments, rural settlement, microclimates or ecosystems. Investigate aspects of the water cycle and carbon cycle, possibly including NEA consideration and fieldwork skills practice.

Day Two - Marrakech Discovery Day

Your guide will accompany you for a day in Marrakech investigating urban issues including sustainability, redevelopment, resource management, transport and economic development. Consider how youthful, dynamic and aspiring Moroccans in this rapidly developing city in an LEDC live alongside more traditional Islamic culture. In the evening you may choose to return to the Square and spend time watching the local entertainers, where snake charmers and acrobats, fortune tellers and dancers vie for your attention, and visit the spectacular food stalls which make the atmosphere unforgettable on your school trip to Morocco.

Day Five - Arrive in the UK

Morning & afternoon: Free time in Marrakech. Transfer to airport for return flight to UK

More popular visit options available

Essaouira & the Atlantic Coast

Depart to the home of the Argan tree – unique to this calcareous semi-desert region and the source of popular Argan oil.
Whilst here, visit an official Argan oil cooperative and learn about the oil’s production, with the opportunity to purchase some. After lunch, continue to Essaouira (‘Windy City’) in this western economic region on the Atlantic coast protected by a natural bay. Here, students can walk down the beach and visit a wood factory before exploring the ancient Media of Mogador built by the Portuguese, now a UNESCO World Heritage listed city.

The journey allows good opportunities for your guide to speak about solar and hydroelectric power use and semi-arid farming, before heading back to Marrakech.
