More Paris Experiences

Montparnasse Tower

Bring Paris to life. In just 38 seconds, Europe’s fastest elevator will take you to experience the most beautiful view of the city. Your students will be able to sketch the Eiffel Tower from here, as well as many other key landmarks. There are a large number of audiovisual and interactive facilities too!

Seine River Boat Trip

This hour-long guided tour of Paris aboard a glassed-over trimaran covers the major sites of the city, accompanied by a clear, lively commentary.

Eiffel Tower

Paris’ best-known monument has outstanding views of the city, which on a clear day can stretch for 42 miles, giving students the chance to pinpoint its many landmarks.

Notre Dame Cathedral

This stunning cathedral, like all medieval churches, was painted on the inside so a largely illiterate population could learn the Bible stories. The use of colour was meant to glorify God and breathe life into the scriptures.

Montmartre

The meeting place for artists in the late 19th and early 20th century. View artists painting portraits and caricatures for the tourists, and enjoy a spectacular view of Paris from the steps of the Sacré Coeur.

Château de Versailles

The scene for several historic events, including the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, provides your students with an excellent opportunity to view the magnificent architecture of the Château before exploring the impressive 250-acre gardens. The Château also hosts numerous temporary art exhibitions – check with your Tour Co-ordinator for more details.

Theme Parks

For a day guaranteed to be filled with thrilling activities, endless fun and a time to spend with classmates, spend time at the two most exciting theme parks, Disneyland® Paris and Parc Astérix, both within short travelling times from Paris.

Arc de Triomphe

Enjoy the views down the Champs-Élysées from one of the most famous monuments in Paris. The monument honours those who fought and died in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars and students can admire the intricate designs that cover the outside of the structure.

Up & Coming Exhibitions

Musée d'Orsay
Impressionism & Fashion

25th September 2012 – 20th January 2013, Musée d'Orsay

This exhibition will explore the transformation of clothing throughout the Impressionist period. Anxious to account for contemporary life, Impressionism favoured the representation of human figures in their daily surroundings and captured the "modern" man in his routine activities, both in cities and in the countryside. With their aesthetic positions, the reality of men and women, of the years between 1860 and 1880, and their clothes, underwent an undisputable transfiguration.

Musée des Arts Décoratifs
Trompe-l'oeil. Imitations, pastiches et autres illusion

2 February 2012 - November 2013

Discover the wealth of this museum's collections via selections of rarely or never previously shown works. Trompe l'oeil, as it its name indicates, is meant to trick the eye, and originated in painting, in which the illusion created by a painted object relies heavily on perspective and chiaroscuro. In decorative art, this 'trickery of the eye' took very diverse forms, including wallpapers and fashion.

Van Cleef & Arpels. L'art de la haute joaillerie

20 September 2012 - 10 February 2013

All the daring of the creations of this legendary jewellery house will be highlighted in the Nave at Les Arts Décoratifs, with 400 pieces that have made the fame of Van Cleef & Arpels since 1906. These prestigious pieces will be shown with archive documents and drawings, in an exhibition design by Jouin-Manku.

Graphisme et French Touch

11 October 2012 - 28 April 2013

Never have graphic design and music been so closely associated as during the 1990s and early 2000s. Electronic music invented a veritable visual identity for itself. And often the collaboration of graphic designers with emerging independent labels was shaped by constraints and basic principles: the absence of photo budget, the musicians' desire to remain anonymous, and the arrival of the Macintosh and its simplicity as a design tool.
