Classical Egypt 8 days from only 1046pp Day 1: Cairo Flight to Cairo. A representative will meet you following customs clearance for the transfer to your accommodation for check-in. Overnight: Cairo. Day 2: Cairo Breakfast in your hotel (first meal included). Begin your tour with a visit to Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom and one of the most important cities throughout the history of ancient Egypt. Continue to Sakkara, the vast necropolis with its 14 pyramids and hundreds of tombs. In the afternoon visit Giza. View the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World which remains standing, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Finally visit the Citadel of Saladin and Mohamed Ali Mosque. Transfer to the rail station for the overnight sleeper train to Aswan, withevening meal taken on board the train. Overnight: sleeper train. Day 3: Aswan Breakfast on board the train prior to the transfer to your hotel. Visits in Aswan include the modern impressive High Dam, the granite quarries from which ancient Egyptians obtained materials for their temples, the unfinished obelisk and the Temple of Philae. Continue with a felucca boat trip around Elephantine Island to view the Aga Khan Mausoleum and the Botanical Gardens of Lord Kitchener. Return to your hotel for evening meal. Optional evening sound and light show at Philae Temple. Overnight: Aswan. Day 4: Aswan Free morning or optional visit to Abu Simbel to see the temple raised from Lake Nasser. Afternoon visit to the Aswan Bazaar. Overnight: Aswan. Day 5: Luxor Coach transfer to Luxor, with visits en-route to Kom-Ombo and Edfu. View the Temple of Kom-Ombo, dedicated to two gods: the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon headed god Haroeris. In Edfu, marvel at the 2,000 year old Temple of Horus, the best preserved Egyptian temple in existence. Afternoon visit to the awe-inspiring Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Overnight: Luxor. Day 6: Luxor Crossing to the west bank to visit the Necropolis of Thebes and the Valley of the Kings, where tombs of 64 Pharaohs and 57 Queens have been discovered. Travel back across the Nile and continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight: Luxor. Day 7: Cairo Transfer to the airport for the internal flight to Cairo. Afternoon visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities to view the largest collection of Pharaonic art in the world, including the treasures of Tutankhamen, followed by a visit to the Khan El Khalili bazaars Return to your hotel for evening meal.
