As  the nation’s capital, a city of international standing and a major metropolitan area, Washington DC offers the greatest free show in the USA, with free entrance to many museums and sites including the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, the White House, US Capitol Building and Arlington Cemetery.

Day 1

Flight to Washington. On arrival transfer to your accommodation.

Day 2

Morning guided tour on foot to cover the government buildings in Washington. The tour will include Pennsylvania Avenue, the US Capitol (the Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court and Library of Congress), The Mall and the George Washington Monument. Afternoon free to visit some of  Washington’s finest museums, most of which are free, including the Air and Space Museum, Museum of American History and Holocaust Museum.

Day 3

Morning guided tour on foot to view the monuments of Washington including the Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Arlington Cemetery (resting place of 250,000 US veterans as well as the great and good of the nation), the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, finishing with views of the White House. Afternoon free for further visits to Washington’s museums.

Day 4

Free day for your own choice of activities/visits. Optional IMAX theatre show.

Day 5

Free morning in Washington. After checking out of your accommodation, transfer back to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Optional visits can be incorporated into the transfer, travelling via George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon or the impressive Potomac Mills shopping mall. This offers an excellent opportunity to stock up with last minute gifts en-route to the airport. Evening departure of flight to the UK.

Day 6

Morning arrival in the UK.
