Afternoon free to enjoy the facilities of the hotel or explore the immediate area. Evening meal (first meal included). Overnight: Delhi. Day 3: Delhi Full day guided tour of Old and New Delhi visiting Qutb Minar, India Gate (War Memorial), and Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, a modern Hindu Temple. View the President’s House, Parliament House and Secretariat Buildings. Visit Raj Ghat and Shanti Varna, the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharial Nehru. View the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi’s main thoroughfare. Overnight: Delhi. Day 4: Jaipur Transfer from Delhi to the “pink city” of Jaipur. Free afternoon for shopping and a first view of the city. Overnight: Jaipur. Day 5: Pushkar Transfer from Jaipur to Pushkar, a religious town built around a lake in a rural environment. Visit the local community, handicrafts centres/workshops and a local school. Overnight: Pushkar. Day 6: Pushkar - Jaipur Free morning in Pushkar before returning to Jaipur. Excursion to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Visit the Jagmandir or Hall of Victory, which glitters with mirrors, the Jal Mahal and Temple of Kali. Overnight: Jaipur. Day 7: Jaipur - Agra Morning tour of Jaipur visiting the Maharaja’s City Palace and Observatory. View the Palace of the Winds and continue through the residential business areas of the city. Free time for shopping in the markets. Depart for Agra with a stop en-route at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri built originally by the Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1569 but abandoned after 15 years due to a scarcity of water. Visit the graceful buildings including the Jami Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chishti, Panch Mahal and other palaces. Continue to Agra with some free time for local exploration. Overnight: Agra. Day 8: Agra - Delhi Morning tour of the city culminating in a visit to the fantastic Taj Mahal, built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. A visit will also be made to the Agra Fort to see the halls of private and public audiences. Afternoon transfer to Delhi. Overnight: Delhi. Day 9: Return flight to the UK Breakfast in your hotel (last meal included). Free time prior to the transfer to the airport for your return flight. Evening arrival in the UK. |
