Risk Assessment and Safety Education

Risk assessment and Safety Education plays a vitally important part in the planning and organisation on any educational visit and is one area we are asked about frequently by our group leaders, especially those organising a visit for the first time.

‘You, Your Group, Your Group’s Safety’ is our latest update to relevant Government guidance on Risk Assessment and Safety Management issues for group travel. This 28 page booklet builds on previous documents and consists of 3 areas which will lead group leaders through different aspects of Risk Assessment and Safety Management.

 
Part 1: ‘You’ – This area helps guide and assist group leaders through the many questions which arise when preparing to take a subject related UK or overseas visit.
 
Part 2: ‘Your Group’ – This area consists of a new lesson plan aimed at delivering safety Education to your group. Endorsed by RoSPA, this lesson plan has been written in conjunction with teachers, LA advisers and other Safety Education Professionals to complement your whole school approach to safety education.
 
Part 3: ‘Your Group’s Safety’ - The final area focuses on practical guidance for planning your Risk Assessments and Safety Management systems and brings together many aspects of safety management while on an Educational residential visit in the UK or overseas.
