Bay of Naples

The Bay of Naples offers an unrivalled opportunity for tectonic studies.

Dramatic, unspoilt coastal landforms combine with a spectacular volcanic region where evidence of the ravages of nature lies all around. Students may be attracted initially by the opportunity to visit sites such as Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius but there are many more lesser known sites and activities to be enjoyed in this impressive region. The Circumvesuviana railway runs from the terminus in Naples and stops at various sites/ towns on the Sorrento Peninsula, providing efficient and cheap transport for small groups.
