Jeff Garner

Guided History Tours Programme Co-ordinator
Jeff Garner 
A Cambridge graduate, Jeff gained extensive experience in both museum work and secondary school teaching before guiding school tours. Jeff joined NST in 1994 and works alongside specialist NST staff to monitor and develop our guided history tours programme, and ensure our tours meet current and changing curriculum requirements. With extensive personal school tour guiding experience, Jeff also co-ordinates guide training and oversees the allocation of appropriate guides for all our groups.

Alan Reed

Alan Reed 
A retired full-time French teacher, Alan’s interest in this period of history goes back to his early childhood. Totally fluent in French, Alan combines a vast knowledge of Northern France and Belgium with a detailed understanding of the history and culture of the region.

David Stewart

David Stewart 
David is a graduate from Glasgow University with an MA in History and Philosophy. David spent 2 years as an exchange student at the University of Mainz studying German History and is a fluent German speaker. David is able to enthuse students with his extensive knowledge of his subject area, delivered at the right level to suit the age and interests of each group.

David Sylph

David Sylph 
An Oxford graduate and a retired Deputy Head of a large London comprehensive school, David has many years experience of teaching History and has knowledge of the topics taught in schools. David has a particular interest in the history of Nazi Germany and that of the former Communist states of Central and Eastern Europe.

Robert Watson

Robert Watson 
Robert is a history graduate, with an MSc in Historical Geography and an M Phil in Modern History. An experienced retired secondary history teacher, Robert combines his extensive guiding experience and excellent knowledge of his subject area with a keen understanding of how to relate this to all groups.
